What they were up against
Great River Greening helps preserve natural areas, protect clean air and water and increase access to sustainable open spaces, leading community-based restoration of prairies, forests and waters. The nonprofit space, particularly in Minnesota however, is highly competitive. Many nonprofits require little/no explanation of the nature of the organization or the vision and goals of their efforts. Great River Greening, due to the complex and diverse nature of what they do, has more difficulty appealing to hearts and wallets on a human level.
What we did to help
Yamamoto helped reposition and rebrand the organization, creating a new logo and complete visual identity system. We produced collateral materials, assisted with content creation and video production as well as all marketing communications materials for the organization’s annual fundraising gala. Yamamoto’s CEO also joined GRG’s Board of Directors to be closer to the organization and its ongoing needs.
As a result, Great River Greening experienced a record-breaking year:
- Annual gala exceeded fundraising goals and generated positive survey feedback by donors/attendees
- Engaged 2,800 volunteers at 63 restoration events across Minnesota
- Restored 2,200 acres of threatened prairie land/wildlife habitat
- Planted 24,500 trees, wildflowers and grasses
- Seeded 1,526 acres of prairie and forest floor
- 320 volunteers came out to plant trees on Earth Day
